This fairy tale, like all fairy tales, begins once upon a time in a far away place…
In 2010, BSc Ada C. Cerioni and BSc and Prof. Santiago Torres begin their Jungian activities in Argentina, Latin America, becoming the first members and subsequently the founders of the Jungian Analytical Psychology Foundation. From then on, they have introduced and taught Jung’s theory in Universities such as the UNC (National University of Córdoba), the UBA (University of Buenos Aires), the UCES (University of Business and Social Sciences), the UES 21 (Siglo 21 Business University), etc.
Currently the founding members BSc Ada C. Cerioni and BSc and Prof. Santiago Torres are completing their doctoral theses in Psychology and Political Sciences in the National University of Córdoba.
In 2013, the necessary requirements are presented to obtain the corresponding Legal Status as the Jungian Analytical Psychology Foundation (FPAJ) achieved in 2014 (Pers. Jud. 350A / 2014). This was the first entity in Córdoba to obtain such status. Thanks to it, reciprocal benefit agreements with the National University of Córdoba for teaching and research have increased significantly. The main existing agreement is for collaboration in research, through the Supervised Research Practice (SRP) modality.
From 2012 to 2016, BSc Ada C. Cerioni and BSc and Prof. Santiago Torres are in charge of teaching graduate and postgraduate students at the UNC the following courses: “Introduction to the Analytical Psychology of Carl Gustav Jung”, “Analytical Psychology in Politics”, “Fairy Tales and Archetypes: an Analytical Psychology Interpretation” and “Interpretation and Analysis of Dreams from a Depth Psychology Perspective”.
In 2015, the JAPF members participate in the UNC in two grade courses entitled “Jungian Clinical Psychotherapy” and “Jungian Analytical Psychology applied to sociopolitical analysis”. Both approved by the Honorable Board of Directors and renewed for a period of three years consecutively. During the aforementioned years, 2831 students attend the courses and evaluate our proposal providing the most favorable feedback. The considerable number of students can be explained by the fact that higher levels of education are free in Argentina, being more accessible to everybody.
In 2018, two new graduate training programmes are presented: “Psychological Types: their application in the clinical area” and “Dreams and Fairy Tales: Introduction to a Jungian Interpretation”. Again, both proposals are approved by the Honorable Board of Directors. During the first year, the total number of students enrolled in these projects reaches the number 876. During that year, following the SRP modality, 23 Jungian-oriented psychologists obtain their Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
In 2019, a seminar entitled “New Contributions of Jungian Analytical Psychology: Re-readings of Byung Chul Han based on the developments of Carl Gustav Jung” is presented in the UNC.
In the same year, The JAPF creates an agreement with the Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology (two-year specialization with professional supervised practices).12 new clinical psychologist specialists are expected to finish their thesis based on Depth Psychology within this year.
Currently (May, 2022) 35 professional psychologists have joined and there are 82 thesis students working on different stages of their research projects. We hope to reach by the end of this year a number equal to orgreater than the 40 total professionals graduated under this modality.
All these numbers demonstrate an active and committed policy that ensures the training and integration of highly qualified and specialized professionals in Depth Psychology
The JAPF has participated in multiple activities of Associations of Professional Psychologists, highlighting the activities carried out in the Association of Psychologists of the Province of Córdoba (“Jungian Triptychs”; “Borges and Jung: a fruitful meeting”; “II Conference on Analytical Psychology: Current archetypes and Jungian clinic”).
Since 2013, the Foundation has been continuously teaching a Master’s Degree in Jungian Analytical Psychology, which currently trains 127 professionals. Outstanding professors such as PhD. Teodoro Elías Isaac, PhD. Bernardo Nante, PhD. Raimon Arola, PhD. Javier Castillo Colomer, PhD. Ignacio Liendo, PhD. Javier Mercado PhD. Gerardo Dealbera, PhD. Marice Caro, M.A. in Political Sciences, BSc. Delia Paulina Bournissen, BSc. Rosana Asís, Prof. and BSc. Fabián Humberto Jordán, among others, are part of it.
Activities have also been carried out in conjunction with the Goethe Institute of Córdoba, where two conferences entitled “Analytical psychology: the symbol as a meeting of the separated” were held. Likewise, the Foundation has multiple proposals for courses, workshops and seminars for this year. Within these formats we can underline the cycles of “Jungian Cinema Roundtables”, “The Archetypes Coffeeshop”, “Experimental Workshop on Dream Analysis”, “Advanced Seminar on Forensic Psychology with a Jungian orientation”; “Intensive Seminar: The Thousand and One Nights in a Jungian Code”; “Meeting of self knowledge: Between Dances”; “Conferences on Analytical Psychology: Current archetypes and Jungian clinic” (which is in its sixth edition), among the most outstanding.
